NORDTECH’s Lunch & Learn Series: An Emerging Silicon Carbide Ecosystem for Advanced Electronics

Join NORDTECH for our virtual lunch and learn series, focusing on microelectronics-related technology, initiatives, projects, and topics supported by our Hub.

At our December 16 webinar, Dr. H. Alan Mantooth will describe the emerging silicon carbide (SiC) ecosystem that can serve high voltage, high power, and extreme environment applications. This ecosystem includes materials, semiconductor, electronic packaging, integrated circuit design, and power conversion and controls.

The talk will describe the new National Multi-User Silicon Carbide (MUSiC) Research and Fabrication Laboratory that recently opened at the University of Arkansas. This 6” fab serves as a conduit for expressing national creativity in advancing research in SiC, but also by having production-level equipment is ideally suited for low-volume prototyping prior to high volume manufacturing. The CMOS and power semiconductor device efforts starting up in 2026 will be described along with the UA’s backend packaging capabilities.
