Summer Internship Program
Applications for the NORDTECH Summer Internship Program (SIP) are Now Open!
The NORDTECH Internship and Mentor Program, in partnership with Griffiss Institute, is providing students with hands-on experience in cutting-edge research and technology development, which is critical for finding success in the region and nation’s high-tech sector. As part of this program, interns work alongside leading experts, solving real-world challenges in defense, semiconductor, microelectronics, and emerging technologies. Simultaneously, NORDTECH’s partners who are able to offer mentorship to interns in key technology development areas can benefit from the work accomplished during this time—while gaining the opportunity to train future potential workers.
NORDTECH’s Lunch & Learn Series hosted a Summer Internship Program on Dec. 2.
Wendy Carpenter, Director of Internships and Eric Royer, Program Coordinator, at Griffiss Institute provided information on how NORDTECH members can apply to be a mentorship site, details on how intern applicants can apply for the program, as well as the selection process and timeline.
For Member Companies: Become a Mentor & Host an Intern
With the United States experiencing unprecedented semiconductor investment, industry leaders face fierce competition for top technical talent. Without strategic workforce development efforts, the U.S. risks falling behind in its microelectronics capabilities.
To facilitate this initiative, NORDTECH is seeking Fully Executed (FE) Member organizations who would like to host interns, supported with NORDTECH funding, during summer 2026.
The NORDTECH Summer Internship Program is designed to connect industry leaders with top-tier student talent, fostering the next generation of microelectronics professionals. By hosting an intern, your company will:
✔ Gain early access to high-potential talent for future hiring needs.
✔ Support workforce development and address critical industry gaps.
✔ Provide mentorship and hands-on experience that shapes future professionals.
✔ Contribute to a DOW-aligned initiative aimed at building a strong, cleared workforce in microelectronics.
✔ Be part of a national effort to enhance semiconductor workforce readiness.
No cost to you! All intern stipends are covered by the program and Griffiss Institute will provide logistical support, including application matching between host companies, as well as onboarding. Member entity hosts are thus able to focus on providing mentorship and meaningful project work.
Please complete the interest form by Friday, January 30, 2026.
