The University at Albany has been awarded $1.5 million in federal funding to further enhance its 200mm Innovation Lab at the NY Creates’ Albany NanoTech Complex. The facility supports advanced semiconductor materials research, device prototyping, and performance testing in collaboration with industry partners.

As part of CNSE’s Lab-to-Fab model, the Innovation Lab enables researchers and companies to validate new technologies before transitioning to large-scale manufacturing - advancing innovation across microelectronics, AI, quantum, and more.

Over the past 18 months, the lab has benefited from nearly $10 million in upgrades, including $8.5 million funded by NORDTECH, strengthening R&D capabilities, improving academic and training environments, and advancing workforce development in semiconductor innovation.
